November 14, 2008: Two students from Mount Madonna Schools 4th grade class have started a company called LIFE Inc. There are six employees, including CEO Gobind, CTO Abe, Emma, Arushi, Fatima, and Param.
LIFE’s goal is to raise money for Mount Madonna School. LIFE is an open source software and hardware company. LIFE also uses Scratch, a graphical programming language. The website will be made in May of 2009.
“Our products will make life a lot easier for both Mac and PC users,” says Abe, LIFE’s CTO. "Our costumers will be much happier and safer."
As well as several software platforms LIFE has plans to make a touch-sensitive keyboard called TouchBoard. Software offerings will include: Leaf OS, a software package for both PCs and Macs. Leaf OS is made in Flash then C++. The Flash version will be selling in 2 years, and the C++ version will be coming out in 3 years.
OpSys is a brand of products for making and running Operating Systems. These include OpSys 1 and 2, OpSys Maker, and OpSys VM box. OpSys products will be selling in 1 year, the same time Leaf OS.
In LIFE’s plans are the creations of 2 products. One of them is named oPener, which will open applications and documents with a voice prompt or dialog box. Another is the ArtMaker series, which has ArtMaker 2000 Pro, ArtMaker 3000 and ArtMaker Kids. Fellow 4th graders will do all of the development!
